What Conficker do?



Conficker, also known as Downup, Downadup and Kido, is a computer worm which targets mostly the Microsoft Windows operating system.


The worm exploits a known vulnerability in the Windows Server service used by Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and the Windows 7 Beta.


Conficker attempt to brute force on your system or network. If you are using easy remember password. Please change your password immediately and never use it again.

Prevention:

Windows XP, 2000, 2003:

  1. Click "START" then go to "RUN"
  2. Type "GPEDIT.MSC" into the box and click "OK"
  3. Under "Computer Configuration", click "Administrative Templates", then "System"
  4. Right click on "Turn off Autoplay" (Disable Autoplay on Win 2000) and select Properties
  5. Click "Enabled", and then in the dropdown select" All Drives".
  6. Click OK.

Windows Vista:

  1. Click "START", type "GPEDIT.MSC" in the search box and hit enter
  2. Under "Computer Configuration", expand "Administrative Templates" and "Windows Components", and then click "Autoplay Policies".
  3. Double click "Turn off Autoplay".
